Learning to swim/spell?

I often get emails and invitations to classes and workshops promising to make me whole… cure my problems, and make me a better reader and writer. I know they have my best interest at heart, but they are forgetting one key… I am okay with the way God made me… for all the gifts he gave me and for the ones he did not. This is how I feel about it…

I know, deep down, that it’s best to spend my time on earth doing the things that I do best, using the gifts God has given me and not wasting my time working on all of my shortcomings because if I did, then at best, I would just be average in both areas. I read a book once that talked about a father rabbit who wanted his son to be a good swimmer like his friend the duck. His son was great at hopping, but his dad always wanted him to be a great swimmer. After years of making his son go to swimming lessons, his son was just an okay swimmer, and because he was not working on his gift, he became just an okay hopper as well. So, I find it best to pay someone to edit things that need to be edited, but I don’t let it stop me from writing a story because I have fun writing and using my gift to tell a story. To me, at my age… spending hours in training trying to improve my reading and writing skills is like teaching the rabbit how to swim. My time is better spent helping others by telling stories and giving hope to others by telling them it’s okay and that they can make their dreams and passions in life a reality.

  1. Very true! If you shine at what you are good at, other poeple can make up for what you're not, that's what a society is ALL about! TOGETHER we can make it! Flourish and Prosper!
